Q: What made you decide that you wanted to support women with your voice?
A: Prior to starting my blog three years ago, I faced personal struggles and insecurities myself. The corporate career I had chosen pushed me to disconnect from my essence and I felt completely lost. My blog and the new career I've created for myself played key roles in helping me find what exactly it is that sets my soul on fire, and how wonderful it could feel to be comfortable in my own skin. I only hope that my words and voice can help women everywhere get there too.
Q: Was there a specific moment when you said, “I’ve got to do something now”?
A: Yes. I was in the banking industry still and got promoted to the position and salary of my dreams. During that same moment I felt this voice within me that kept asking me "what would happen if you died tomorrow? Would you go happy and in peace?". I analyzed my life for a few minutes and realized the only thing I had achieved as a 26 year old was a successful career. No trips, no adventures, no passions, no stories worth sharing. I quit that same day.
Q: Was there a time in your life when you needed support?
A: Yes, the moment I quit my job and financial stability to chase my dreams.
Q: What kind of support did you look for?
A: I looked for moral support from friends and family members. There's nothing that a warm hug can't fix.
Q: Where did you find that support?
A: With a few friends and family members I can count with one hand.
Q: Did you intentionally decide to be an influencer or did it happen as a result of something you did?
A: It happened out of the blue. I started a blog to put my emotions and thoughts in writing and to connect with like-minded individuals. I never imagined it would grow a personality of its own.
Q: What does it mean to you to be an influencer?
A: To me, it means to use your voice and reach to create a positive impact and influence people for the better. To open their eyes and minds to the idea that we are all human, perfectly imperfect, worthy of love, equal, and very much responsible for our actions on earth and their consequences.
Q: How would you describe power for a women?
A: Women are power houses. Capable of touching hearts everywhere they go, as well as defying strict structures and mindsets, and building doors where nobody opened one for them.
Q: Do you think vulnerability is an asset or a detractor?
A: It all depends on how you choose to see your vulnerability. You can either let it make you a victim of life, or you can learn from it and become wiser and stronger.
Q: How do you structure your day?
A: By being present throughout every second of the day. From my organic and fair-trade coffee or matcha in the mornings, to my yoga practice, to my work meetings.
Q: How important is factoring “me” time?
A: Extremely! Every day should at least have one hour of me-time where you get to disconnect from everything and reconnect with your essence.
Q: What does “me time” look like for you?
A: Meditation, natural beauty treatments, reading new books, and even taking a 10-minute nap with my favorite music on and crystals all around my body.
Q: Where do you look for energetic support?
A: Myself. In my opinion, nobody knows you better than YOU. The words you tell yourself are the most important ones. And palo santo, of course. Lots of it! I burn it every single day to clean the energy at home and at work.
Q: How important is buying with eco-awareness?
A: Incredibly important! It is one of the reasons why I chose to start my blog and focus on writing about a lifestyle with a conscience. Every action and dollar we spend has an impact on our world. We should strive to make it a positive one.
Q: How do you think we can impact this planet if we bought with preserving it in mind?
A: We, as consumers, get to set a demand with every dollar we spend. If we choose to buy eco-friendly and fair-trade products, brands won't have another choice but to listen to that demand and reshape their business practices in order to stay in business. It's that simple!
Q: What are your top 3 tips for staying happy, whole and successful?
A: 1) travel as often as you can (eco-friendly hotels please!) and learn new cultures.
2) nourish your body with a healthy plant based diet and yoga, your mind with powerful words and books, and your soul with things that make you smile.
3) don't be afraid to take risks or to fall. Falling is part of learning, and learning is part of life!
Q: What is your wish for the woman who you support?
A: Be raw, be you, and risk it all when it comes to chasing your dreams and passions.
