What made you decide that you wanted to support women with your voice?
It wasn’t really a decision, it just somehow happened naturally! I initially started teaching women natural makeup skills to help them feel more confident in their own skin, and quickly noticed that lots of women need deeper support than just the superficial makeup. Skin care issues are a common topic for women, and low self-confidence is something that many women struggle with.
I was personally struggling with finding time for myself, noticed that I was often stressed out and not balanced at all. This high stress lifestyle was affecting my health and I wanted to change something about it. That’s how I got into health coaching, which really helped me get my lifestyle in place. I have basically found my voice through using my own voice for myself first. What I’m doing today with my clients is exactly what I would have needed a couple of years ago: I help women create sustainable, healthy, and glowing lives!
Was there a specific moment when you said, “I’ve got to do something now”?
Until 2015, I was a store manager at Apple Retail, right before I started my own business. I really loved my job, enjoyed working with the great team we had, but just wasn’t emotionally balanced, had very little time and especially energy for myself (I so often cancelled meetings with friends, because I was just too tired to leave the house!), didn’t have a self-care practice and wasn’t 100% using my potential and my creativity.
I had been trying to find out if I could work part-time at Apple, which would allow me to gradually work on my health & beauty coaching business. After one year of negotiating with no results and a new boss which wasn’t really supportive of what I was doing outside of my career, I decided I had to either take the leap or stop my dreams forever. Because I said to myself „If not now, when then?“. And I quit!
Was there a time in your life when you needed support?
I truly believe that we all need some sort of support all the time. I’ve been working with business coaches, life coaches, healers, spiritual guides for years now and it just always helps me get over blocks and obstacles faster and it supports me in being my best self!
I believe that support is something very positive and despite what a lot of people may believe, I think it is never a bad thing to ask for help.
What was it?
I first started working with a coach after a few months of struggling with my business just after I left Apple. I just couldn’t figure out how to get clients, how to generate the sales I wanted, and how to price my services. Since my self-worth was very low, especially in terms of being a business woman or even a CEO, I struggled with feeling worthy of actually doing this work and getting paid for it.
That’s when I decided to ask for help from someone who has done that before and can share her experiences and her top tips with me. This was back in 2015 and it was the best decision I had taken for myself as well as for my business!
Where did you find that support?
I had found my first coach online - I can’t even remember how I came across her. I had signed up for her emails and every single email really spoke to me. I then reached out and decided to accept her help.
Today, I am still working with different coaches, and also find a lot of support in my girlfriends who also run their own empires and we are always there for each other and support each other with lots of love!
Did you intentionally decide to be an influencer or did it happen as a result of something you did?
Never had I even dreamed of being called an "influencer“ one day! I always thought that this was only possible for famous people. Ever since I started using social media to connect with my community and to share my message through visuals, I’ve seen how powerful it can be and how easy it is to share a message and INSPIRE others. I did consciously decide to become an influencer about a year ago, because I really want to expand my network and reach more women with my message of holistic health and inside out glow!
What does it mean to you to be an influencer?
It means that I am able to inspire others with my message, share products, things and brands that I 100% align with to give my community the opportunity to learn and grow and to discover new brands and products that they would normally not come across and that are aligned with what they believe in as well. It also means that I am using my voice to make a difference in the world and to help save the planet.
How would you describe power for a woman?
We have all we need to become the best and most powerful women we can be. Just that most of the time, we stand in our own way. You are literally the only person who can stand in your own way, so how can you get out of your own way? Power means getting to know yourself better and knowing what things, people and activities help you glow and how you can unblock yourself and your chakras to feel aligned, energized and fulfilled.
Do you think vulnerability is an asset or a detractor?
Vulnerability is SO important! Actually, my business started to take off when I first shared about my personal stories from the past. I was bullied as a little girl, which left me in traumatic low self-worth and the constant feeling of not being good enough.
Once I started sharing these experiences, I noticed how lots of women resonated with me, because they were bullied, too, but it’s just a topic that is still very taboo. While you can try to avoid uncomfortable conversations and try to forget about what happened, these experiences are still stored in your energetic body and your subconscious mind. In order to heal, it has to come out and you need to work through that.
Vulnerability was partly also a healing process for me. Noticing that I am not the only one who got bullied helped me understand that it is OK. I think the more raw, honest, and vulnerable you can be with your community, the more success and fulfilment you are going to experience.
How do you structure your day?
I am an overly organized person and need to schedule every single task into my calendar! I usually get up around 8.30 and start my daily practice at 9. I usually do a bit of yoga, stretching and some movement, then meditate and go through all my chakras to activate them, and visualize something that’s coming up (e.g. a speaking engagement, a retreat). I then burn some Palo Santo or some white sage to clear any negative or stagnant energy and then prepare my breakfast, which in summer is usually a delicious smoothie or a smoothie bowl!
After my daily practice, I start work around 10 and go through any tasks that are on my schedule. I take a break for lunch, sometimes go for a short walk, and try not to work after 6pm.
I also structure my week in a way that I only work on certain days, have specific days for specific tasks (e.g. client days, podcast days, creative days…) and Friday is my girlfriends day, where I meet with friends for breakfast or coffee and just chill!
How important is factoring “me” time?
VERY important! I believe that when I’m in my best energy space, that’s when I can be a better coach, a better girlfriend, a better woman. That’s why I figured out what I need to do to feel in total glow mode. This is all about filling your own cup first - or like in the plane: put your own oxygen mask on first before you help others!
What does “me time” look like for you?
I believe that it’’s all about balance and about trusting your intuition. I don’t have a practice that is 100% the same every single day. Sometimes, I feel like doing 10min of yoga and sometimes I can just get lost with it and spend 45min doing some asanas! Not all days are the same, so I like to switch it up!
These are my favorite things to do:
- Morning Yoga and stretching
- Meditation to activate my chakras
- Visualization of something exciting that is coming up (or just my future dream life)
- Pulling a card for some guidance
- Using Palo Santo or white sage to clear any negative energy
- Journaling to write down thoughts, ideas, or things I’m grateful for
- My skin care routine with a cleanser, scrub, rose quartz roller, and moisturizer
- Reading a few pages in a book before going to bed
- Listening to chill music while scrolling through Pinterest for life and travel inspiration
Where do you look for energetic support?
Usually within myself, because I know that I have all the answers. But sometimes, I just need to sleep and take a short nap, go outside for a walk to charge up my body with some sun rays, or talk to someone that I know "gets“ me. This is all about knowing yourself well and knowing what will serve you to raise your vibration!
How important is buying with eco-awareness?
SO important! Ever since I watched "The True Cost“ documentary, I stopped buying fast fashion and my entire life has changed. I am now part of the Fashion Revolution Team Switzerland (fashionrevolution.org/switzerland) and we organize yearly events with fair fashion markets, presentations, and lots of interesting workshops.
I believe that with everything we buy, we make an impact - positive or negative. I reduced my consumption for at least 80% and everything I buy is organic, locally made, fair trade, ethical, or vegan, and I truly believe that transparency is a key factor.
If everyone bought less, there would be less trash, less problems, less chemicals, less suffering… and I believe that every single person can make a difference.
How do you think we can impact this planet if we bought with preserving it in mind?
I think that we can actually SAVE the planet.
First of all, we need to consume less, so we waste less. Less product, less trash.
Second, we need to rethink what we consume. Do we really need a plastic bag for this little journal, that would actually also fit in my purse? Do I really need to go to the supermarket to buy packaged organic vegetables, or could I go to the farmers market and get it without plastic?
Third, we need to ask ourselves WHY we buy. Is it because we truly NEED it (e.g. a wedding dress or a swim suit for your vacation on the beach) or is it purely pleasure and luxury (another swim suit when you already have 3, or a new dress just for that party on Saturday when you already have 20 dresses in your wardrobe).
Fourth, I think instead of buying, there are lots of other options. I personally love clothing swaps or lending clothes from my friends, my neighbor or my sister. That way, I can wear new pieces, don’t need to buy them, and don’t need to waste them.
My favorite things to do to impact the planet are
1) No single use plastic. I don’t use plastic straws (I use brass or bamboo straws instead, and yes, I bring them to the cafe!), always have a tote bag in my bag incase I buy something, so I don’t need to use a plastic bag. I have a glass bottle, so I don’t buy plastic bottles ever.
2) Buy less clothes. Lend, swap, thrift shop, and upcycle. When I buy, I buy from transparent brands that I trust and know want to make a difference.
3) Eat more plants. The production of meat and dairy has insane effects on the planet in terms of water and land usage. According to a documentary I watched recently, about 50x more people can be fed with plants that are grown on the same piece of land compared to meat. This was just an absolute no-brainer for me when I found out.
What are your top 3 tips for staying happy, whole and successful?
1) Meditate every day to calm your nervous system, activate your chakras, and get a clear mind to focus well on what really matters
2) Sleep however many hours your body needs. When you’re tired, your body probably needs some rest, so go to bed! When you’re well rested, you will feel happier, more energised and you can achieve better results.
3) Have a vision. You need to know where you are going. What does your dream glowing life look like? Who is with you? What do you do? Where do you live? What does your home look like? Where do you travel to? Be specific about what you want your life (and business) to look like and then work towards that.
What is your wish for the woman that you support?
I want her to know that
1) she is beautiful.
2) she has all she needs to live the life she wants to live. All she needs to do is TRUST herself and her intuition.
3) she is ENOUGH and she deserves to live a glowing life.
4) she can achieve anything she wants as long as she is willing to be honest with herself, face her fears, and work on herself every single day to become the best version of herself!
